    Description

Combining layers of deep earth and chocolate with a surprising amount of red fruit, nuance is this coffee’s middle name. Our newest Latin American exudes a woodsy aroma and inherits a complex and layered mouthfeel. The aftertaste is clean and fresh. The Brazilian producers of this gem, Bob-o-link Alliance, are committed to environmental stewardship, quality, and sustainability. Their small property farms are run by single or extended families, all of whom share the vision of producing the most excellent coffee through ethical means.

    Roaster Info

Since its founding in 2006, 1000 Faces Coffee has kicked up some serious buzz that’s spread far beyond its Athens, Georgia home. Among its other achievements in the past six years, the up-and-coming micro roasterie took home a 2013 Good Food Award in the coffee category, and has been a top three finalist in Roast magazine’s annual Roaster of the Year competition for three years running. Winning accolades, however, isn’t part of 1000fFaces’ stated mission. Changing the world of coffee, on the other hand, is definitely on the menu.

If ever a roaster deserved the term subversive coffee, 1000 Faces is the one. Co-founders Jason Mann and Ben Myers have prominently posted their Manifesto on the company website. It begins: Resist bad coffee. They celebrate the act of drinking good coffee as an act of civil disobedience and promote a coffee revolution that encompasses every area of their business from sourcing green beans to delivering roasted coffee and passing on the tradition of hand-crafted roasting.

1000 Faces is committed to buying coffee that is grown in ways that are ecologically friendly, but the owners join a growing number of roasters who eschew labeling and certification schemes. Instead, they place their faith in meeting the farmers and visiting the farms so that they know firsthand that the coffees they choose are grown using safe methods that respect the environment and bolster the local ecology.

Likewise, 1000Faces believes in market transparency. As such, the roasterie sources its coffee through direct trade relationships only. As such, they are involved with the coffee they sell from seed to cup. Throughout the entire supply chain, the company maintains its commitment to quality, justice and equity – and, of course, excellent coffee.

1000 Faces offers a range of single origin coffees and blends, including Bell’s Blend, billed as a “new school blend for the expressive coffee aficionado,” and Aldo’s Blend, the House dark roast blend of Indonesian and South American coffees. Single origins vary from season to season and often include micro-lots and lots from growers that won’t be found anywhere else.
