    Description

Third generation farmer Erwin Pohlenz farms 300 hectares that serve as a buffer for the Triunfo biosphere reserve. His farm is 50% Pacas (yes, the Salvadorian varietal) and 50% Mundo Novo. They pick only ripe cherries. They are fully washed, patio dried and stored in a cool and stable environment on the farm until shipping. They are working towards RFA certification and have most of the environmental and social practices in place. As you grind this coffee you are sent down a river of comfort and familiarity. The first sip your mouth is covered with buttered popcorn and caramel chews. As the cup cools, black plum skin acidity settles into your cheeks. Roasted almonds and the lactic quality in raw cashews ride in on a wave of milk chocolate. Cinnamon and maple syrup make way for and aromatic and sweet finish. Try this as espresso.

    Roaster Info

Joshua Millman, founder and head roaster at Chicago’s Passion House Coffee Roasters, understands the secret of turning out exquisite roasts: listen to the coffee. The small-batch craft coffee roaster opened in 2011 with one mission: to share a passion for coffee with the world. They believe in attention to detail and dedication to true quality, and respect for the coffee.

At Passion House Coffee Roasters, that respect for the coffee extends to every person involved in nurturing and cultivating it from the bean to the cup. When Millman talks about roasting coffee, he speaks with the familiarity of a lover. Let the coffee surprise you, he says. Listen to the coffee. Be open to what develops as you roast. The Passion House philosophy is to give each coffee the opportunity to shine in its individuality, and to showcase the sweet, vibrant, full flavors in all their complexity and clarity.

Passion House Coffee Roasters sources the highest quality coffee beans from farmers around the world, and works with importers who source coffee ethically and treat farmers with respect. They foster community within their own community as well, and unabashedly promote their favorite coffees from other roasters because, after all, it’s all about the coffee.

The coffee offerings from Passion House come in three distinct personalities: Ambient, Mainstream and Experimental. They include distinguished single origin and estate coffees from around the world, and a variety of seasonally adjusted blends. Each coffee is roasted to order and shipped immediately after roasting to ensure freshness and quality.
